Baby, the white moth ain’t played no games. Oh, worms. Hello, worms. Whatever grow, I’mma eat it, baby. [Music] Good morning. Welcome to Yellow Door Urban Homestead. I am Asia and I’m a urban gardener growing in a small space out in my backyard. I was trying to figure out if I had already did these shoes and I did. I did them earlier when I came out here. Y’all, I am making terrible life decisions as it comes to this sugar. I had a headache this morning. I’m drinking water. I could be the poster child for bad decisions when it comes to sugar at this point in my life. It is so stupid. I didn’t do nothing as bad as the last time. But I did do it and I knew when I was doing it, it was a bad decision. Anyway, we are out here today because let me show you the greenhouse. Uh, it’s drizzling, which is why right now we’re not going to work on the green stalks. By the way, look at the white butterfly. Hold on. I’mma tell y’all what I was about to tell y’all. Hold on, y’all. I just knew this would be worse outside than inside of the greenhouse, but it’s just as bad inside the greenhouse. But we all know I’m learning. Anyway, I’mma show y’all this baby. The white moth ain’t played no games in here. These my Godzilla broccoli. I was very excited to try these this year, but it’s getting kind of late and so I’m not trying to wait to see if this going to come back. Now, what I don’t see in here anymore is the mole of the VO coming up. So, that’s a plus. But the white moth ate my stuff down in here after she laid her little eggs. She didn’t eat it. Her her children did. But anyway, oh this bed, too. But remember this one, I was overwatering also at first. So listen, but me overwatering didn’t kill these tomatoes. These tomato I I harvested tomatoes off of these yesterday. So I I don’t know. Anyway, what we’re going to do today is any seedlings that’s on this table, we’re going to put them somewhere. either they going in the green stock or they going in the greenhouse. That’s because when I go to the local feeder seed, I only want to be purchasing what I need. Also have decided I am going to get my black and pepperc corn green stocks. However, I’m not like filling them with soil and stuff this year. I will wait. Well, not right now. I might fill them with the soil and just leave them out here. But I’m not going to plant them out. Like I think that I’m ready to just get what I have right now planted and then next year we can get the other stuff planted. But I may fill them with soil so the soil can be there, you know, everything could be breaking down, that kind of stuff. So what I was going to tell y’all though is somebody left a comment yesterday. They were leaving it to other people. They were saying like you don’t have to take the towers down to amend them. So, I’m going to go on the Green Stock probably YouTube channel and see what people what they do because I honestly don’t feel like taking every last one of these down. And I am going to get the purple one, the new purple one filled too. That’ll be a part of what I buy from the local feed and seed store. But anything that’s on this table that is usable that I can use, I am going to get in a spot today. That’s including these little onions right here, y’all. And somebody mentioned that I could just give the other onions a haircut. And so I will probably do that as well. Give the onions a haircut that’s over here cuz they honestly don’t look that bad now that I have poured all the well a lot of the water off, but it’s still raining here like I said. So they don’t look bad. Whatever we have, we just going to put in there, right? And I still haven’t started feeding this to the chickens, but I will. Also, it’s drizzling now. So we need to go in the greenhouse. I’m not going to amend the soil anymore because I’ve already amended it. The plants just got eaten. So, we’re going to look on this table, decide what we going to get, and then we going to get this greenhouse planted out again. And then now that I’m home, I mean, look, y’all. I know y’all like, you showed us that already. Look. And that one can lay so many eggs. Just take it out. Oh, by the way, the roselle in here, I don’t think it’s going to do nothing. I’m still going to leave it just cuz I want to. I’m still going to leave it. But at this point, we don’t even have the callalaxes. I remembered it this time. We don’t even have the callalaxes showing up really. There’s some right there. They’re very small, but I’m I’m going to leave them cuz I just want to see will it do will it get close? I know they can grow in here. Clearly, they can grow in here. Should they be bushier? Yes. But we have dappled light over here and so they still did grow well. And I do think they will grow in this greenhouse. I’m not going to put them in this bed next year, but we’ve talked about that before. So, I don’t even think I’m really going to be picky. It’s probably going to be like cabbage, Brussels sprouts. I do want to put the leafy greens into the towers, though, cuz I think they would do amazing in the towers. So, anything that’s not a leafy green is what we going to take first. And then we’re going to start taking out the stuff that’s in there and just replanting it. And then I’m going to make sure I was on vacation. This looked way different before I went on vacation. We probably had two plants that was eaten up like that when I came back. Whole bunch of them. There’s a ant on my camera, y’all. Hello, fall. Come on, fall. And by the way, if my dog hadn’t torn up the netting, I could just put the netting down in here. But she tore that up. She tore that up a long time ago. So, cuz the door has netting on this. This greenhouse is from Quick Tent. I think I say that all the time. It’s a great greenhouse for me. I haven’t had any problems with it. It is pushed up against the uh gates or whatever. So, against the fence. So, that does help a little bit um with like the wind and stuff. But anyway, we’re going to pull this stuff out. Like look at this y’all. Look up there. Go. If you see this on your plant, it’s not a friend. It’s not a friend. I thought my problem actually I didn’t think I was going to have no problem in here. I’mma leave this one green Goliath and hope for the best. But the rest of it, I’mma just take it out. This bed is not too bad. It did eat down the corabi right here. But this bed is not too bad. For whatever reason, it went for my um what did I say? Green Goliath. It’s not Godzilla. My Godzilla hybrid. And then it took out all of the little kales that I had put over here. So that’s what we going to do today. It’s a few. It’s two kales left over there. I’mma put this in front of the Godzilla broccoli. So, I know that’s the only one I have. And then over here, the cabbage. I have one, maybe one Katarina cabbage left. I really wanted to try that. It was supposed to be fast maturing. I think it was a small head, but it was supposed to be fast maturing. And y’all know I’m not good at growing cabbage. So, if I could get a fast maturing variety, I was hopeful that, you know, with the weather being good or like warm and not super cold and freezes that maybe I could have got it before, you know, it got that cold here. But that’s not going to happen because they all either got eaten up or I over watered them, which is fine, y’all. We’re going to be just fine. Let me go grab some plants. And I feel like, let’s see. The soil doesn’t seem like it’s got well some spots do seem like it’s got what do you call those things? The tunnels from the mole or the V. So, I’m just pushing it down a little bit. Also, let me move y’all so y’all can see other. So, I’m just kind of pushing it down. It might have a little bit in there cuz I can. Yeah, there’s some give cuz the mole of the O was in here. But I’m not going to step on it cuz I don’t want to compact it in this bed like I do outside. There are some tunnels in here. Also, you got some settling. You have settling from when I filled it. And at the bottom of this bed, there are stumps. There’s tree stumps in the bottom of the bed. And so, there’s going to be air pockets anyway. So, that I’m aware of. So, I’m just pushing it down a little bit. Just a little. And somebody did tell me, well, a lot of y’all tell me what I can do for the mole and the VO, like essential oils and stuff. I don’t have any. I need to go get some to give it a try. But until I get to that, I’m just going to do this cuz the mole of the VO is not what tore this bed up. It was the It was the white moth. So, let’s grab some starts real quick. All right. So you got this says Long Island Brussels sprouts. These are not Brussels sprouts. I really don’t know what I planted. This is a tender sweet cabbage. It looks pretty bad. That’s a Brussels sprout. It’s also sitting in water. I thought this says Grineer, but that looks bad. And Brussels sprouts take a long time. So that’s a early Jersey Alabama collard. That’s a Grineer. Brussels sprout. I’mma put it in there. But Brussels sprouts take a long time, y’all. Alabama collard. Let me go grab uh my Hori Hory knife. Somebody asked about it. I will tell you about it when I get back in the greenhouse. Okay, the Hori Hory knife. Someone asked me about it. This is what mine looks like. I love it. Now, I don’t know the specs on it because I had it on my Amazon wish list. I will link it. I’ll go find it. I had it on my Amazon wish list and somebody sent it. But I really like it. It’s very sturdy. I’ve had it for a while now. I probably probably a couple of years and nothing is going wrong with it. It’s amazing. So, to the person who asked, it is off of Amazon. I will leave the link down in my description. Oh, someone asked about the stools that I use. They are from Home and Garden Trends. I’ll also link that as well. All right, let me grab the starts. And I really don’t know. I feel like I’ll put the Brussels sprouts and the cabbage over here. That’s what I think I’m going to do. And I got a cabbage I need to pull. Yeah, that’s crazy. I’mma pull this one, too. It’s just too late for that for something to be that small in my area. And maybe not in the greenhouse, but I’ve never grown in here. So, I mean, I have I did it in spring. I’ve never grown over the fall in here. Man, it’s not cold out here, but I refuse to fight mosquitoes. And I’m just putting these in here. But like I said, we still got to go to the local feed and seed to fill in any other spots. This is a cabbage. That’s a Brussels sprout. Um h maybe I will put the Brussels sprouts in here because it’ll give them I think a little more time to grow. Then we’ll put cabbage over here because they’re in the greenhouse. When I say it’ll give them a little more time to grow, that’s what I mean. And I’m going to take off these little sticks from this kabi. See if I can get it to come on back. It really didn’t Uh-oh. There go another little um caterpillar. Really didn’t do too bad on this bed. It just seems like they love that broccoli. So say it. So say it. The broccoli I really wanted to grow. This col Robbie did get eaten down pretty good. That’s okay. All of it can grow back. I just don’t know if I have enough time at this point. So, also going to water in here today, too. Tomato volunteer. I’mma hand these to the chickens. I’ll be right back. Wasn’t a lot, but they’ll they’ll eat it. I am going to put the collar in in the um green stock cuz I already have collars in here. I really am trying to grow everything that I’m growing outside aside from the onions and the leaks and the shallots. If it’s in the garden, I want to try to grow it in here, too, just to see if it works. Simply to see if it works. We also have a few broccoli. So, maybe we’ll put all the broccoli over here. That’s Deco and I think green Goliath, too. And we’ll just throw the larger growing stuff in this bed, just to see what happens, y’all. Simply to see what happens. And then I’m probably also going to give them a nice dose of fish emotion once I water really well in here. See if I can get them, you know, get to moving quicker. All right. And broccoli can get kind of big. And I’ve never grown the deco. This is all deco. And I’m going to plant it really deep because And I’m going to move this. The roots are a little bit tight at this point. So just going to loosen it up a little bit. But it’s because these plants should have been in the ground somewhere. Should have been in the ground somewhere. Also trying to make sure I don’t plant right on top of a uh tree stump. So that’s a deco going in. Planted super deeply, which I’ve never had an issue with. I’ve never had an issue with it. But yeah, I want to get every seedling somewhere before I go to the local feed and seed. Then I’ll actually know exactly what I need because I’m not trying to have a bunch of starts again that I’m trying to figure out where I could put them. And I don’t know how far apart I’m planting these. I’m just planting them. And I know somebody might tell me how much space they need, but in my backyard, I really don’t focus on that cuz I don’t have a lot of space to begin with. So, I plant them. Um, the ones that are going to live, they’re going to live. And the ones that’s not, they just not. And that’s okay. And I don’t know if I’ve been fertilizing in here like I should either. Can’t really remember. So, they are behind. I also planted them later. So, there’s that, too. Like this. I feel like it should be further along, but I honestly don’t remember. I would have to go back and look to see how long ago I planted them. I know they did not get planted at the same time as what’s out in the garden, and I know they don’t get the same amount of sun. So, it might just be a slow process in the greenhouse. But whatever the process is, we’re going to find out cuz we’re not going to stop trying. We’re not going to stop trying. Oh, and you got to think they’ve been sitting in water, too. Just not getting the best career, but I am glad I had extra seedlings technically cuz I didn’t plant all the bags that I said I was going to plant out either. So, there’s that. That is directly over top of a of a stump. Yeah. Like that’s full of water. All right. Just getting it in a text message directly over a stump. Also reason why I think it’s kind of easy for the mole of the V to get in cuz there’s Well, they going to get in regardless. But there are pockets where they probably just can slide in and come up to the top. Yeah. We going to hit this with a good watering and some fish emotion. All right, got that done. So, we got no real order, but it is planted out again. So, now we’re going to come over here. This is a early Jersey right beside this Katarina though. So, I don’t know. We going to put it in here and see cuz that catarina seems to be stunted anyway. And yeah, this soil over here needs to be watered, too. And this is soaking wet. Soaking wet. All right. Yeah, I want a deeper hole. Like I want this whole Uhoh, we lost half the roots. Okay, that might be a deep enough hole now, but I kind of want this covered. Like I want the whole stem just covered under the ground. This is a Graner Brussels sprout. We right beside the roots of the tomato, too. Hello. Hey. Oh, okay. I’m in the backyard. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Bye. All right. So, that is planted out and we will see what happens, y’all. We going to keep planting. This is not Katarina anymore, but I’ll put it right here so that I know. And that was supposed to be a tender sweet, but it’s not. That’s fine. Um, all right. Okay. So, we had to take a break. A friend of mine stopped by on his lunch break, and then I called my mom. I forgot my boots, y’all. But I did not keep working. So, we are still at the same spot that we were at. It’s drizzling again. So, greenhouse work is perfect for today. So, let’s uh get these boots back on and get back to work. So, I know y’all are like, “Why are you trying to do all of this?” Maybe y’all are not. I’m putting words in y’all mouth, but I don’t know if I explained why I’m trying to do this. I want everything done by October the 1st. Today is the 29th. And so, with that being said, I want to get all of these uh start somewhere. here. Maybe I told y’all this. I don’t know. And then tomorrow, that’s when I want to go to the local feed and seed and get everything else, get that planted out, and then we should be done. So, this is where we left off. Getting the rest of the things planted out in this bed. This is a tender suite. So, we’re just going to put two over here just like we did two plants because this right here is actually a Brussels sprout. We need to water. I’m not going to lie. I walked in from vacation and I was like, “Nope, deal with this later. And so I didn’t water anything in here. Honestly, I was like, “We’ll deal with it later.” And I just focused on the main garden and I said, “We’ll come back before, you know, October the 1st and get it done.” And that’s what we are doing today. I need one more start for back there. Oh, well, actually, I got two Brussels sprouts in there. So, that’s what we’ll do. Oh, worms. Hello, worms. If y’all remember, we put the worm castings, including the worms, in here earlier this year, and the worms are still there. So, we love that. We love that for us. Also, my headache has gone down a little bit. So, I’m kind of back to myself. Let’s get that in there and move on. Then, we going to work on the green stocks. I hope we can work on them together, but the the drizzle is not playing any games today, and I don’t want to mess up my camera. All right, and these tomatoes still going strong, y’all. I’m just leaving them till they die, honestly. All right. Uh-oh. Phone ringing again, y’all. I’m pretty important today, apparently. Hello. All right, we’re back, y’all. We’re back. It’s a Monday morning. All right. So, we just going to put one of these Brussels sprouts back here. And again, we don’t know that these are Brussels sprouts. It’s the Long Island improve. Whatever it is, it’s going to be food. And that’s the way I look at it. So, I’m going to have to break these up cuz I had two in one container. So, just going to break it up. Drop it down as deep as I can. And these were going anorobic. I could smell it. But anorobic, there was too much water. They were sitting in too much waters. That’s what that means. So, I think I’m getting them out of here just in time. And I’m probably not going to water these. Like, they were super wet. Like I said, I can smell the anorobic on them. We’ll put our last one in right here, which kind of is going to be I don’t know. We’re going to do it anyway. Y’all know how I do. I’ll probably water this one maybe tomorrow. And, you know, maybe I should wait for all of them. I’ll come back over here and see if I’m seeing any signs that they need to be watered because their root balls were very moist. So, might need to give them some time to dry out a little bit in this already dry soil. Dryish soil. So, all right, done in the greenhouse. That’s what I wanted to get done. Tender sweet. That’s this one. We’ll put that over here. I think I think that was a tender sweet. It really don’t matter. Whatever grow, I’mma eat it, babe. And actually, the greenhouse is not done. We still need to replace those two uh kale down here. So, let me go find some kale and then I’ll be back. So, this is some kind of kale. I do not have the tag in here. Don’t know what happened to the tag, but we going to plant this out real quick, too. Right down here. And then I’m literally going to come in here every day. every day just like I do outside, not forget and pick off any worms I see. And we don’t need a super deep hole because these are in the uh six cell trays still. Very moist, too. Very moist, but I’m pretty sure this is some kind of kale. All right. And that was a margo. And actually, we probably can put three in this front section, maybe. But maybe we won’t. Let’s Let’s see what else we need to put cuz kale can get really big and it can take up space. Even though I want to use as much space to my uh best of my ability as possible. All right, now we’re heading out. I do think that it is drizzling. So, we might be ending this video here, but I might be posting tomorrow, too. So, we will see. Um, you know what? Yeah, let’s not overdo this. Asia, you have space. All right. So now the greenhouse is replanted. Got collards in here and kabi in here. You have broccoli, one Godzilla. The rest is deco. We put some more uh kale back here. And like this is one of the kale that I had planted out. But you can see that the worm caterpillar came on through. This is another one. And then we just put those two in. And of course they are definitely not getting as much sun as they should because of the rosale. But oh y’all look at this parsley. I need to harvest that. That’s growing back every time I cut it. Then you got Brussels sprouts and basically cabbage over here. And then of course the two tomato plants are still in here, but we just going to leave them. So we still got a mix of summer in the greenhouse. Also, I want to put some peas on these trelluses, too. So I’m going to come back. I’m not going to do that today, but I’mma drop some pea seeds for these trelluses. But real quick, I’mma take one more break. I’m going to go and see what Greentock shows as a way to not have to pull all of these down like the person said it. And then I will come back to see y’all if it’s not raining. If it is raining then then I leave one undone today and then I just do it tomorrow so I can come back and show you what I’m doing. Um, so if that’s the case, I hope that you enjoyed this video. If you did, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe. Don’t forget to visit me over on Instagram where I post about the things going on in my garden almost every day. Bye y’all.

  1. Thanks for hori knife info i found one on amazon as well with a weeding tip. I like yours too wanted to make sure the handle is sturdy. I think its the same knife you have just you have standard blade and i chose the weeding tip. Ill let you know once i get it how its working for me. So sorry you lost your plants. Those worms get my collards each year. I planted broccoli and collards today but im going to cover them. I usually dont but im going to this year. Happy growing sitrena your henrico soil sister

  2. Asia on my grow tent I put a white cover net over the door to keep the moths out and everything still grows great bc the air and light still gets in.

  3. I was also surprised at pests in my greenhouse. I thought they’d be protected in there, but . . .I left the door open & Nature came in. 🤦🏽‍♀️

  4. Hi Asia, I feel your pain from loosing your starter plants. I've seen a lot of damage from the white moth in my garden, too. I really like your sweatshirt. Wondering how to get one? Thanks for sharing your videos!

  5. You must cover the greenhouse beds with row netting! If not, the moths will continue to devour all the plants. 👀 Little Mountain Ranch; Chelsea has good teachings on cabbage moths & how to deal with them. Unless you do as she teaches, you’re wasting $$$.

  6. I have ten towers i always flip them before fall planting mostly because we have a ton of grub pressure no matter if I cover the towers they find a way to get in and usually I find up to 20 per pot its ridiculous. Most ppl in YouTube claim that to keep dirt soft they need to remove the old roots i agree because it attracts too many roly polys and grubs in my area. Always go based on pest in your area. Good luck

  7. What is the name of the straw you have around your plants and can you tell me where I can get some for covering up for the winter , thank you so much

  8. Good morning Ms Asia! I love your videos and your energy. My daughter and I watch you every time you post a new video. I am a new gardener and always looking for tips and tricks to help my garden grow. My daughter Adelina will be 4 on the 8th and she loves watching you with me. Every morning when I tell her let's go look at the garden she says " out in my backyarrdd" thank you for your videos and your good vibes. Have a blessed day! Sending love from Texas 🙏

  9. Ok Asia, I'm officially a part of the Greenstalk addiction 😢 Thank you for sharing! Love your videos and positive energy!! Happy Fall Gardening 🎉 Zone 8a❤

  10. Hey Asia!! I bought the knife because I saw how useful it was to you. I absolutely love it!! I utilize all your tips & tricks. And like you always say if it dies or doesn't work it's ok!! Thanks for sharing with us!! You are definitely my favorite gardener!!!❤❤❤

  11. Hi Asia, could u just keep greenhouse closed now that it is cooler to keep the white moss/butterfly? OUT!!.. I WHOULD JUST KILL IT, BUT THATS ME. THEY NEED TO GO CAUSE, PLEASE, IT CAN FIND SOMETHING TO EAT ELS WHERE…..
    ANY WAY! THATS ME!😢

  12. What I'm LEARNING about the greenstalks is this. It depends on what you growing in them. The crops that have deep roots you PROBABLY have to break the greenstalk down. The excess roots need to go( in my opinion). If you can get the soil to break up without breaking it down then thats great.I don't have great strength in my hands( age thing 😅😅) so I watch what i grow in mine.I watch what I put in my container beds. All that pulling is tiring 😅 .I have space to in my garden for deep root plants in the ground ❤

  13. I have a Black Swallowtail caterpillar in my parsley. I’m just letting it have its fill since I only use the parsley for when I make broths.

  14. I hope that you got the beautiful black and peppercorn. The black sold out fast!

Anyway, I used your code for $10 off. 🙏🏾

  15. Hey Asia! I watched yesterday on my television. These pests are swinging from the last nerve I have left in my body. 😩 😂 Go away.

  16. hey Asia! I have the same type of greenhouse you have and i put one of those screen curtains on the doorway to keep the unwanted moths out.
