Hey,
I want to get this pothos to full maturity, but it is getting too high and I am out of moss poles ><
How can I make it grow bigger leafs while keeping it on this length?
Can I cut it in 2? Will the ariel roots be enough to keep it alive?
Also, sphagnum moss is really expensive where I live, how do you guys handle it? Because my coco mix doesnt work that well

Pothos rules dictate you now must make.. *the moss wall*
I personally don’t have the patients for moss poles, but Sydney Plant Guy on YouTube talks all about the chop and extend method. They will be older videos if you want a how to, very informative.
it gets a lot bigger haha
Chop and extend
Cut the top, so it branches; it should branch out somewhere in the cube. Then send the new growth from the top when it comes out, back down the pile. You can direct where a ppthos grows.
Is the top part rooted really well in the pole? If it’s established, and you REALLY don’t want to get another pole (just get another pole) and REALLY want to get it to maturity, chop where the two poles join so you can separate them, and chop the bottom pole at the ground. Plug the top part into the ground, attach the bottom part on top of the old top. The larger section can continue growing, and you can do whatever with the smaller section.
Wrap it around the pole like a candy cane, don’t go straight up or you will outgrow very fast.
Chop the bottom and give it to a friend
Reuse the moss pole and let it keep getting bigger!
Chop chipity chop
Chop and prop
I rationalize spending money on higher quality moss because it will last many years and in many cases, can be reused. Also, moss poles are awesome!
Depends how well rooted the top, more mature part is – ideally you want to just cut the entire thing (plant and moss pole) in half, pot it up in a new pot, and add a new section of pole above it so it can continue to climb (chop and extend – see Sydney Plant Guy on YouTube)
Then you lose as little maturity as possible, you save space, and you still have the original plant!
not sure if this is a “good” way to raise a pothos but mine started as a small hanging plant, and is now 1 metre or so long. i kinda let her hang off a shelf and draped her across some string lights. if youre definitely wanting to stick to the pole, i guess try have her go up the wall or smth
