Collected this water and sand from a lake at the beginning of August. It's been sealed since but recently, I've seen bubbles forming on top of the water. They just sit there for days and do not pop.
My best guess is some bubbles are forming in the substrate and going to the surface, then the biofilm holds them together and they don’t pop because there’s no wind or flow of any kind to disturb them.

Probably just bioactive components releasing gas as waste. You can only see it now bc the film is strong enough to make a bubble
