My first set of conos: are they about to start blooming or are they confused and want to split? Northern hemisphere, late September. Watering “lightly” twice a week to keep them “plump”. Since about two weeks they are like this. Now I’m questioning are they confused and want to split and want to go dormant?
P.S. am I the only one thinking it looks like a little frog poking out of the hole? Especially with the light green one?

    Def flowers! Congrats!!!

When they “split” you’ll notice their leaves turning yellowish and getting wrinkly, and you should even be able to see the new baby leaves underneath, but they will be smooth. The skin will eventually continue to get more wrinkled and dry and eventually form a sheath.
