About 4 years ago I planted 2 wisteria in front of my west facing house. It seemed ok at first, but never really thrived. This past summer the 1 that gets more sun totally died, and the other is looking rough. My plan is to replace them with crossvine, which I hope will do better in the full afternoon sun. Is this a good replacement? Could something else be hurting the wisteria that will also affect the crossvine?

  1. Consider Lady Banksia or Peggy Martin climbing rose

Crossvine should thrive! And the hummingbirds will love you for it.

Full western Texas sun, especially in the afternoons, can be rough for Wisteria. How often were you watering? Crossvine is better adapted for the heat and should thrive.
