Good evening! I live in North Carolina Piedmont and adopted this fiddle leaf just over a month ago.
She has been doing well (no signs of stress, no leaf drop)… but she takes forever to dry out in this original nursery pot. I believe she needs a bigger pot to really flourish, but I wanted to wait to reduce her stress.
Now, a month later, there’s a growing “bud” (no leaf just yet). Should I repot her now (1/3 organic soil, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 orchid bark in a terracotta pot)??
If so, any tips besides not disturbing the root ball and taking it really gently?!
Thank you

After repotted..if you put a saucer beneath the pot..don’t keep excess water in it after watering
..l suggest watering it thoroughly each time(water it once every 7-10days)..
..and this tropical plant needs sunlight so much..it’s better to place it by bigger brighter window/spot
Yes. Exactly what you described is what you should do. Normally you wouldn’t go up a size if the plant is taking forever to dry out but I suspect that’s happening because your soil is not aerated well enough. It’s not because the pot is too big, in this case. The mix you described and the technique is ideal, but go up 2 pot sizes and skill the terracotta. Get a plastic pot with excellent drainage and a tray underneath. Really nice plant!
