Yes, you may have to sand and recoat it. Also you will want to caulk it with silicone if you intend to keep it indoors to ensure it is water tight. It does not look sealed and seems it was built more to be a tiny greenhouse for potted plants rather than a terrarium with soil thrown into it.

My sister has one of these as a terrarium, we needed to seal everything so it would work right. The hinges can be a bit flimsy if you’re not careful, but otherwise, it works really well and looks really nice.

You will need a liner for that style.
I used a metal cake pan and hid it with some moss.
With a pan liner you can change it out as you see fit .
