Woodhill Hall, located just outside Otterburn, claimed the top honour and was named Best in Category for large commercial premises at the 2025 Northumbria in Bloom Awards.

Corrinne Knight, owner of Woodhill, said: “In January, we embarked on a transformation of our back car park to our Indian courtyard.

“New raised beds were created by the team along with planting with an Indian theme from bay trees to bright oranges that pop in the beds.

“Myself and my husband headed to Jodphur in India to commission a Dancing House that is currently en route to the UK.

“This will add an amazing folly to this space to finish it off and will be a wonderful backdrop for couples for photography.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and passion of everyone involved.

“We are thrilled that our efforts have been recognised at such a high level, and we look forward to continuing to make Woodhill a place we can all be proud of.”

The judges praised the venue for its creativity, attention to detail, and environmental commitment.

Highlights included the transformation of a tarmac car park into a colourful Indian courtyard and the planting of 3,000 daffodils along the driveway.

Mrs Knight said: “We have also replanted trees along our quarter of a mile drive to add diversity to the trees that were planted over a 100 years ago, our resident red squirrels love this”

Northumbria in Bloom is part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom campaign, which aims to celebrate excellence in horticulture, environmental responsibility, and community involvement.

A spokesperson for the venue said: “Woodhill’s Gold Award and Category win highlight the team’s success in combining sustainability with beauty, and its ongoing commitment to making the area greener, brighter, and more connected.”
