Did it grow a pup?

I bought a medusae on etsy. One of those that are hanging displayed in a shell to look like an octopus. After having it for a couple of years, I finally realized the fishing wire that was used to hang it was ingrowing into the plant and seemed to prevent it from spreading out. The wire was woven throughout the plant. I had ditched the shell a few months after getting it.

Got the wire off and pulled free some leaves that got bound inside. A week later a leaf separated from the rest and started it's own leaf family.
It just keeps getting bigger. Is it a baby or just a branch away?
