The Spirit of Harvest, a two-week event, will kick off on October 18, offering a variety of activities to mark the autumn season and Halloween.

The first week, running from October 18 to 24, will be all about the harvest.

The gardens will showcase the season’s bounty, including vegetables, fruit, herbs, seeds, meat, flowers, and timber.

Visitors can take part in demonstrations, tastings, and tours of the garden and farm.

There will also be opportunities to learn traditional skills like onion stringing, seed saving, dried flower arranging, and, for the first time, charcoal making on the estate.

As the October half-term approaches, Heligan will shift its focus to the spooky.

From October 25 to November 2, visitors can immerse themselves in Cornish folklore and Halloween traditions.

This includes potion and wand-making crafts and a walk around the Wise Witches of Nature trail, which will share tales of Cornish folklore and harvest traditions.

The trail ends with a chance to toast a marshmallow over a fire pit.

Additional activities include donkey and goat walks and ponies with panniers, an ancient harvest technique used to transport produce across the land.

Throughout the two weeks, there will also be daily traditional corn dolly workshops, apple-pressing demonstrations on weekends, and a harvest produce display.

The Spirit of Harvest will be held at The Lost Gardens of Heligan in St Austell, Cornwall.

The event runs from October 18 to November 2.

Adult garden admission starts at £28, child admission at £12.50, and family garden admission (two adults and up to three children) from £75.50.

Heligan’s Spirit of Harvest celebration is a chance for visitors to engage with the garden, learn about traditional skills, and enjoy the rich harvest traditions of Cornwall.

Situated on over 200 acres, The Lost Gardens of Heligan remains one of the most loved and romantic gardens in the UK, appreciated as much for its beauty and mystery as for the groundbreaking restoration project.
