I found this strange berry in the woods around Vienna, however I've seen only two of them in my life, pretty far from each other. The trees around it were mostly oaks, linden and beeches, so obviously it doesn't stem from them. The first I found was mostly reddish with these yellow "spikes". The one I found today was yellow and I cut it open, there was a small dead bug inside.
What could it be? Couldn't find it on Google.

They are galls made by tiny wasps, falling from the oak trees. The “dead” bug inside was the larva of one of the wasps, the gall is its protective home.

The galls are harmless to the tree & the wasps are harmless to you. Just nature coexisting

Looks like Arbutus unedo, we call it medronho in Portuguese and make liquor from it.
