Growing over our back fence

  1. Trumpet vine (campsis radicans). Native to North America but aggressive as hell. Hummingbirds love it.

Use any means possible to destroy it. Trumpet vine is second only to kudzu as absolute plague plants that destroy everything it touches.

I cut mine back and painted stump killer on the remaining greenery. I didn’t want any flowers on it to poison the hummingbirds or bees that came to it. Kill it while you can, it comes up everywhere and has made gardening on the side of my house a nightmare.

    Campsis radicans.

While it seems to be invasive in the USA, it barely survives winter in most of Canada.

    Trumpet vine. Beautiful. Invasive potential.

    It’s the devil in disguise.

    SE Michigan.

I planted a vine 20 years ago. didn’t grow much, forgot about it.

In the last three years it’s been coming up everywhere across a 1/2 acre. No matter what I do. Big branches of it pointing to the sky coming up everywhere out of the ground.

It’s totally taking over all of my garden beds no matter how often I hack it, pull it, or paint it with herbicide.

    Run.
