I never knew wasp and hornet literally spitball their nests.. đ

I tend to do more late day stuff late summer- less wasp hornets. also to keep wasps from sneaking in cracks of screen doors I spray WD40 around the crack.. tada !
shhhh dont tell everybody. đ
stay safe
I have a honey bee hive in my backyard, but still saw a bumblebee in my garden this morning!!
Now I know why I had so many wasps in my yard. I'm getting ready to replant grass in my backyard but had a lot of exposed clay. Thank you for doing this video.
If hornets & wasps don't pollinate other garden vegetables, there wouldn't be any sense to attract them for pollination.
I read the other day honey bees pollinate 80% of our crops. Honey bees are being killed out by chemicals we use. Don't use them.
Once the bees are gone we don't eat or have to hand pollinate. What do u think that will do to the costs of foods in the grocery stores?
ARE THE WASPS/HORNETS KILLING THE HONEYBEES ?
Our first spring here in North Idaho we had so many yellow jackets and the following spring also. The last two years we used the traps that we put out in the spring. We still have some but not nearly the amount we had the first two years.
Thank You!
Thanks for sharing this video! I always appreciate when people bring attention to pollinators and how we can coexist with them. One small note – while bees and some flies (like hoverflies) are great pollinators, others mentioned like yellowjackets and hornets typically arenât major pollinators and play different roles in the ecosystem (like pest control). Itâs still valuable to understand how each creature fits into the bigger picture, even if they arenât all pollinators per se.
I see very few honey bees all summer every year. I have a ton of bumblebees and few different kinds of wasp. I have never had a problem with them messing With us. I get wasps nest all over my yard and sheds but ignore them when they are around and they do the same. Bumblebee bees can annoy me sometimes because they are so curious. They will just come up to us on the deck and hang around and just hover a couple ft away starring at you checking you out. They have eaten some dents in my shovel handles when I leave them outside too long but thatâs on me.
This year i did not see many wasp or bees maybe due to cooler spring in ohio- but mid to summer the little sweat bees are abundant!!
With respect, I disagree with removal of wasps. They are great predators of many pests, and if you leave them alone, they will do the same. I can understand if you are allergic, but I very peacefully coexist with them. I specifically plant Fennel, Dill, Coriander Parsley and Sweet Alyssum to attract them and other predators for squash bug and Looper. As a result I have had very light damages and don't need pesticides. If a pest is a problem in a garden, it is most often an imbalance.
Wasps kill all of the destructive caterpillars on my peppers and tomato plants. So why would I want to get rid of them?
I have five honey bee colonies and I know exactly what you're talking about. I just harvested about 120 lb of honey from my working honey bees. But bald-faced hornets and yellow jackets are everywhere right now and I will kill them anytime I see them because as you know they are very aggressive.
I prioritize umbelliforms, since they draw in predatory wasps that keep the worst local pests in check. Never been stung by anything in the garden.
Well i have a pond and fruit trees, so I'm cooked.
I have a 4 ft long paperwasp nest hanging from the tree on the back side of my duck pen. I'm leaving it till they freeze out. I will irradicate them if they try to nest on my porch or shed door. When I get stung, I stay swollen for months, and the heat & itch doesn't go away that long.
If I try to butcher ducks and they're around, they'll try to attack me for the bird meat.
Then there's not knowing where the underground hives are…it never fails!
Megamoobs
I keep my eyes peeled in spring for queen wasps and kill them to prevent nests in my yard. I have honeybee hives and they hassle honeybees relentlessly especially in the fall
Wasps are my friends! I have 4-5 different species in my garden.
When will seeds be available, canât wait to order!!
I've grown very fond of wasps in my garden. Hornets not so much.
Yard long green beansđą
I didnât have any umbrels this year but I did have a 12 ft sunflower that brought in every pollinator including wasps. All kinds. Every one agreed to the rules and I wasnât stung. Wasps and bees will also go after deli meat I learned at various outdoor events. And we lived in a house once with a plain wood deck. The wasps would come and I think scrape pieces of the wood to make their nests.
Wasps, especially yellow jacket, and hornets kill honey bees!! Feel free to look it up.
I grew Okra a few years ago in Upper Michigan. The plants did well but I was surprised to see how the flowers would get covered with wasps and ants. đ§đ€
I use traps to protect my hummingbirds, the wasps and hornets are very aggressive towards them! They will pester the hummingbirds and walk around the feeder. I hang the trap very near the feeder and it has many inside.
huh? Wasps prey on aphids.
I go only go after yellow jackets that try to make home in my home. Other than that they dont bother me. I see them gnaw the heck out of caterpillars etc. esp under leaves of plants for bugs
