Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) – On September 16, 2025, multiple calls were placed to Missoula County 911. The nature of the call indicated that two males were fighting near 2219 W. Central Avenue. The calls indicated that the males were in the road, and it was possible that one of the males had stabbed the other with a stick.

Multiple Missoula Police Department officers responded to the scene. One officer spoke with one of the 911 callers who explained that he and John Doe were driving on Central Avenue approximately 30 minutes prior to the incident. The caller explained that he stopped to speak with a mechanic when a male, later identified as 26-year-old Travis Beam, cam out and started screaming at him to get out of the road.

The caller did not engage with Beam and opted to leave the scene. A short time later, the caller and Doe were driving to Rosauers and again stopped to speak with the mechanic. This time, Beam approached them in the street. The caller asked Beam what his problem was, and Beam said he would kick the caller’s “a**.”

The caller said Beam retrieved a gardening hoe and hit Doe with it, causing the wood handle to break. The caller said Beam was making a stabbing motion with the wooden handle and thought it had penetrated Doe’s body.

Officers observed a reddish-purple mark on Doe’s back that was approximately the width and size of a broken garden hoe handle. An officer also observed that Doe’s shirt was ripped, and Doe explained this was where Beam stabbed him. The officer did not observe any visible injury on Doe’s skin where the tear was located.

Another officer spoke with a witness who observed the incident, but was not involved. The witness said he saw Beam swinging a wooden stick and strike someone with it multiple times. The witness said that Beam was swinging the stick like a baseball bat, and that Beam appeared to be the instigator of the altercation.
