I have Drosera Madagascariensis and I am unsure what to expect from it and the best care.

I have many others CPs, including other Drosera so I know about the water and sun needs, and she gets this. I have an indoor setup and I kept it outside when it was still warm. Since I brought it inside, it's been doing better overall, with more dew and general perkiness.

When I first got the plant, it was a clump of 3-4 plants which I repotted in CP soil with sphagnum. I did not separate them. I kept it outside since it was summer. Eventually it started drooping and the leaves dried up and looked generally poorly. It was in full sun and constant rain water in the saucer throughout. So, I cut them all the way to the ground. Just 1 plant at first because it was quite spent but I noticed another grew quite quickly. Eventually I cut the older plants and allowed for new ones to grow. I can't tell if they are different shoots or just regrowth of the old ones. But they look much nicer.
However, I'd like to avoid a repeat and I can see some of the lower leaves are already without dew and starting to droop.

The unknowns for me are:
– do the lower leaves get dry and droopy no matter what?
– do they need some type of support so they don't fall over once they are taller?
– should I trim them to remove the lower, old dried leaves?
– should I cut the older plants if they get too spent?

Advice is much appreciated, especially pics with your setup if you do provide some type of support to the plant.

    Note I haven’t grown this species but…

Yep, the lower leaves will wilt and droop no matter what. So long as they’re being constantly replaced by new growth at the top you’re fine👍

I wouldn’t bother trimming the old leaves off – in nature they’d remain on the plant so there’s no real reason to cut them off except for aesthetic reasons.

As for supporting/staking them, I’d only do that if the whole plant began to flop over.
