Woke up this morning to holes like this all over my lawn. I've never seen this before! Could it be skunks or armadillos? I'm on the east side.
EDIT TO ADD: Consensus is an armadillo! If he's after grubs, do I need to worry about a grub problem? I just have a small area of turf lawn for my kiddos, and I'd rather not have to put any sort of insecticide on it.

Probably an armadillo
This has happened to my lawn a couple times. I think my neighbor said it was armadillos looking for grubs.
Third vote for Armadillo
Dillo
Judging by the size of it in comparison to your hand, it could also easily be a squirrel.
That soil looks nice and soft for digging and burying pecans.
Also, which part of the east side makes a difference. If you’re more central, some critters are more likely, and if you’re further out, others are more likely.
🎶armadillos keep digging 🎶little holes in my backyard🎶🎶
The answer is always little speedbumbs
I’m in San Antonio now, we get these holes from skunks and armadillos
Congrats! Your neighborhood isn’t devoid of life yet! you have critters doing their natural thing to the earth. Let them continue and our natural world will…hang on!
