There’s a new and mysterious merchant in Grow a Garden offering up Garden Coins. By giving him a certain number of Sheckles and a specific plant, you can earn this elusive currency. You’ll need to find the Garden Ascension stall near the corner of the island where you can speak with Orson, the Coin Keeper. This guide covers how to get Garden Coins and what you can buy with them.
How to Get Garden Coins
Before you can spend Garden Coins at the Garden Coin Shop, you’ll need to earn a lot of Sheckles to get some. While this process originally would reset all of your Sheckles back to zero, it no longer does. Now, in order to ascend at the Garden Ascension Stall, you’ll need 1 trillion Sheckles (1,000,000,000,000) and a certain fruit too. While it may be unique to each person, one example of a required fruit is a Frozen Mango.
The patch notes for the update that added the Garden Ascension feature also mention that ascending can require anywhere from one to three fruits. This can add a bit more of a challenge, depending on how many you need. And each time you ascend, the required number of Sheckles will increase by 2 trillion (1,000,000,000,000).
Also, you can only ascend once per 4 hours, earning 10 Garden Coins each time. If you have the plants ready to go, you may be able to pull off multiple ascensions a week. But you’ll still be limited to only one per day.
Upgrades in the Garden Coin Shop
The Garden Coin Shop has all sorts of upgrades you can buy using your Garden Coins, and some of them can be purchased multiple times. When ascending was patched to be easier to accomplish, the prices of shop items were doubled. We’ve included a table below showing the costs for each one alongside what they do:

Where Else Can I Spend Garden Coins?
Garden Coins can also be spent on the seeds under the Friendship tab of the Seed Stall. Before you can see these seeds, you’ll need to increase your friendship with Sam.
