Is there a way to figure out if the tips withering is too much direct sunlight from late afternoon sun in a west facing window, or underwatering?

Hm….mine are in a west window also (and I live in a dry climate). When it gets hot (hotter than 90°) I pull the shades down. I have to quick dunk mine every other day and do a weekly soak (about 30 min) to keep mine from getting crispy tips.

I have had sunburn on mine. They show more damage to the entire leaf, not just the tips.

The afternoon sun is typically the harshest at this time. And I avoid it with mine with a shade cloth during those hours.
