Passiflora edulis ~ Here in Hawaiʻi the fruit is commonly known as lilikoʻi, but most know it presenting in its blossoming form as Passion Flower.

It’s a member of the Passiflora family! We have passion fruit in the Midwest called “Maypops,” but there are several varieties in North America and not just in the tropical regions!

  3. It’s a passionflower. In the right conditions, it will produce passion fruit. It’s certainly an unusual flower, but I wouldn’t describe it as weird. They are native to South America, and its name comes from the Christian missionaries who thought the flowers looked like they had a crucifix in the middle of them. I have one in my garden that comes up every year. They’re pretty rampant, so you have to prune them back after flowering. Otherwise, they’ll wander everywhere and anywhere they can coil their tendrils around..

If you’re in a northern climate it may be Maypop.

  6. Passionflower.  Post pics of leaves, fruit, and flowers and your location to get an identification of which kind of passionflower.
