Bought new home 18months ago. Backyard empty. I checked several companies around but nobody was available to start in less than 3 months and I needed to move in and didn't want to have a sand-muddy backyard so I decided to do it by myself.

It's been an 12-14 mo journey where I started by planting Lippia (aka frogfruit) in June 2024. Then in September 2024 I started planting some Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) on the perimeter.

Then in March 2025 I created some flower beds in the perimeter with corten steel and put some Lavender, Agapanthus, Stipas, Gauras, Roses

Question: I'm lacking some interest point at the end of the backyard. I was thinking in planting two trees there separated around 3 meters each. Cypress or similar, tall thin trees. Or even two Palms. I don't know if it would be a good idea to plant bigger trees as the backyard is not huge.

Edit: forgot to mention. Zone 9b
