Notched huge branch on the right (was 2 feet taller than branch on left) and now propagating what was chopped into 2. Did I cut off too much? Worried.

   I suggest chopping that taller one too！

   ..just keep a “丫”..this tropical plant will bud again in several weeks+

   Don’t worry your plant won’t die！..and do it asap..Winter is coming soon！
