I was told this was a jade today, but what kind of jade is it? She told me there was a few different types of jades there. I want to make sure I take care of it well, I'm pretty good with plants I bring them back to live just by watching them usually. Was told likes sun but doesn't need too much, don't over fill the water just make sure it's damp, and it may grow out of this elephant in about a year?

Update:they planted two of the leafs too low so I just replanted it. I didn’t want it to rot at all because they were in the soil. Now it’s just the stem

If the pot doesn’t have any drainage, which is typical for these style of pots, you can still totally keep the plant in there for the time being, you just need to water small amounts with a good gap between waterings. Jade plants don’t need that much water so err on the side of less water than more.

Jade plants can get massive if you let them, and look amazing when they do, so you’ll definitely want to find a bigger pot in the long run. Basically, the advice you were given is fine. A pot with drainage will be way easier though.

Window light will work but it’ll likely lose color. Full sun outside is also completely fine, just bring it in to protect it from hail, snow, or frosts and it’ll be happy.
