I bought this from Costco a few months ago. after I brought it home a few of the really small leaves rapidly yellowed and fell off, and i thought it was maybe a temperature adjustment since my house isn't warm most of the time. it's done better since then but now I'm experiencing it again with some of the larger leaves and I don't want it to spread!

watering only when dry on the top 2-3ish inches

window light source is right next to it, gets at least 5 hours of indirect light and a few more of bright semi-direct light. you can see in the picture how bright it is in the house right now just from the window

soil is just what came from costco in the pot

thanks for any help!

That’s really not a lot of light for an alocasia.

How long does it take for the soil to dry before you water?

Considering how full it is I would imagine the plant is just shedding older growth to conserve the energy for the rest of the foliage and new growth

Likely just natural lifecycle of old leaves – gotta make room for the new ones.

I’d just chop it off with a sharp sterile blade or clippers.

As long as it’s only happening to older leaves, and it’s not yellowing all over the plant you should be good.

It looks great! It just looks like it drops off a few old leaves. Keep doing what you’re doing, don’t change its spot.

Leaves will yellow no matter what. It’s just the life cycle.

Just prune the yellow leaves if you dont want to see them.
    0 need for concern.

It seems to be flourishing. I remove yellow leaves at the base of the stem to divert energy back to the healthy growth. I would consider a slightly larger pot and choose a heavy pot to avoid tipping. Be careful to choose potting soil, not garden soil.

I would’ve ventured to say thrips, but apparently that’s just me lol 😬
