Do you own the plant? Is it yours? Did you pay for it? Do you pay someone to take care of it? If any of the above then yes, if no then you are stealing
Ask the stuff, be nice and polite and you’ll see.
you can just ask the front desk if you can have a start of the lobby plant. they will probably say yes. the second one is syngonium. if they say no just buy yourself one they arent super rare or anything.
If it’s not yours and you take it without permission you are stealing
Ask for a cutting or two, most of the people will say yes!
* That’s not a Marble Queen but a Golden Pothos
* Is not a Philo but a Syngonium Podophyllum aka Arrow head.
Absolutely. This is an easy plant. God luck
Without permission no, but you can tey and ask to propagate their plant. If you do if respectfully and with good energy. The answer may be in your favor.
Obviously, taking things that don’t belong to you without permission is stealing, but if you ask the front desk if you can propagate a cutting or two, they might say yes.
If they say no, you can always go to a good nursery and buy some.
Ask for it politely! Most likely they will say yes
Years before we met, my wife cared for plants in an government office building. A lady in an office was kind and talked to her about the plants. My wife gave her some cuttings from different plants. Several years after we married, my wife and my mother were talking about my mothers job with the government and how she worked in a specific building. Yup, my wife had given my Mum the cuttings and my Mum still had the plants she raised from them.
When it comes to plants, there is energy involved in/around them. So many beautiful relationships, connections can be built through asking before taking.
I dunno, *can you*?
No. Never.
These plants have to be cut back from time to time to keep them from going wild and sprawling where they shouldn’t sprawl! I think if they haven’t been cut back very recently then the staff may just take the time to trim up the plant and give you a few cuttings. 👍
Yeah, it’s not ethical to take a cutting. Just ask, you may be rewarded for asking. 🙂
Whoops, this leaf fell off!
Prop-lifting go for it!
No! Not without asking.
Just ask. It’s simple.
Look on the ground for any pieces that might have already broken off! If it’s already disconnected from the main plant it’s definitely fair game as it’ll probably die if you don’t take it anyway
if you live in Manatee county FL i can give you some. mine got so full i sent clipping to a friend in Alaska! they made the trip beautifully.
This comes down to “if everyone took a cutting.” Just ask, dont steal. Someone cares for those plants.
Pretend you’re an adult and ask.
this is a question for r/proplifting
I love that you asked us, but you should ask them
second is a syngonium. just ask the staff, if they say no both of those plants are super easy to find and super cheap

That one piece is vandalizing the wall. You should cut it off.
Don’t proplift/steal plants. Ask the staff.
Do it.
Just ask, seriously. Look I have a garden with a lot of plants, I do not mind sharing at all but just ask. It bothers me when people just cut without asking. If you ask I give away a lot of cuttings and sometimes a whole plant.
Sure
Yeah. What are they gonna do?
NO. Imagine if someone came along and started taking cuttings from your garden. The time and effort they put into those plants (for all to enjoy) is destroyed by folks helping themselves. Ive had passersby help themselves to my tulips and roses – yeah, maybe the needed them more than me, and I should be the bigger person BUT taking without asking is theft – there’s a “thou shalt not steal” rule somewhere.
This might sound silly, but it’s always worked for me… Specifically ask to take a cutting of the type of plant it is. You’ve got the plant name identified in the thread. So, compliment it to the front of house team and say you’d love a cutting of *insert name here*.
The chances that the front of house team are the ones who take care of the plants is unlikely – but not impossible – so if you ask them they will either not care and tell you to go ahead, realise you know way more than they do (you mentioned it by name after all) or they’ll get the plant guru who will be delighted with your compliment of wanting a cutting.
I may have just gotten lucky with the people in public buildings I’ve asked but I’ve had people either not care and told me to take what I want or someone delighted that their work is being noticed. Worth a shot 😊
Don’t be a goofball man, just take a little snip or two
It’s literally theft and many nurseries will prosecute for it, and it’s also just rude. I would be irate if someone came into the clinic and randomly took cuttings from my personal plants. I bring them from home and spend my own money on them!!
When I take cuttings for people, I select somewhere that won’t trigger my anxiety and OCD every time I see it because it just looks ‘wrong’ to me. What if the owner was waiting for that new growth and you just snipped it off 🤷♀️
They almost always say yes if you ask for a cutting/start. You could also ask to trade cuttings.
What an odd, out of touch question
r/proplifting. Take it.
that’s two different plants in there btw
Not even a marble queen either. Just a regular golden pothos exposed to high lighting.
So without anyone seeing you, I would also feel tempted🤣
If it’s a chain or someplace bougie, then it’s totally fair game.
Ask permission from the staff, not from people on reddit wtf
No? Why would it be ok to steal their plants?
Taking a cutting is 1. making the plant smaller, 2. will make the new leaves on it smaller, and 3 will ruin the continuous vine.
Its a dick move. If you want a cutting, you ask for a cutting. Like you would with anyone else. Hotel staff put a lot of effort in making their place look nice, and the person taking care of these obviously cares well for the plants.
