could do a raised trim, add some compost/topsoil over some cardboard or weed fabric, and then you may barely have to dig to plant some plants. that depends on that area and your plans for it but it’s an idea. i’ll always suggest seeding natives, which would remove the need for you to dig at all if done right.

You don’t want plants that close to your AC anyway.
athreebodysolution
That’s something you take to civil court.

Shit like this is why renters can’t have pets. One idiot ruining it for everyone else.
IDoStuff100
Uh. If I was a landlord, I would really not want people burying pets in the yard..
I imagine you could hire someone to remove the remains, but that’d probably be expensive.
Otherwise, I’d do a raised bed and put in smaller plants that don’t need a deep hole. You don’t want anything big next to the heat pump anyway
CrowRepulsive1714
You shouldn’t have plants that close to your house and or AC… it’s dog remains. Not human. Circle of life. I’m willing to bet there are mores bones around than you’d think. At least these people marked the grave

Don’t plant anything around that condensing unit unless you want to replace it sooner than later.

“Let just burry it next to the house”
Wtf
Fuzzzer777
Rock garden around the area with a small St. Frances statue. Its better for your Hvac unit and you could add a few potted plants if you wanted.
Plain grass would be fine as well.

Pull the cross, bark mulch.

Louis Creed: I’ll bite Jud. What’s the bottom of the truth?
Jud Crandall: Well, that sometimes, death is better.
Jud Crandall: [narrating] The person you put up there ain’t the person that comes back. It may look like that person, but it ain’t that person. ‘Cause… whatever lives in the ground beyond the Pet Sematary ain’t human at all.
Just saying….
dunitall1962
Are you sure there’s a dog buried there? That ground looks undisturbed in this pic. The burial would have been some time ago if it is there. It could just be a cross where there were other symbols gathered as I’ve seen in a lot of side and front yards. Not saying it isn’t buried there, just saying in this pic, the ground around the cross looks unbroken and maybe there is another reason.
Btw, where is this? I’m looking for a place.

Crazy that the dog was Christian
Harryhodl
Pull the cross and plant what u want to. Most small shrubs won’t be super deep anyway so u probably won’t even disturb it.
I agree with the AC comments.
Boyz2sh_t
At least it was a Christian dog.
pussmykissy
I’d remove the cross.
No big deal.

On another note, I’d buy an AC slotted 3 sided fence to allow air flow but reduce chances of when you do have a lawn, have anything hit it.
I’d take the cross down.
DunkingTea
How do you know the dog’s buried there? They might have left with 2 dogs actually and that’s human remains or something
Sad_Moment3588
Dig but not to deep.
Jkeeley1
What if the dog was Jewish?

Put a screen around the hvac. They sell premade ones or you can easily diy it. Don’t plant anything too close to the foundation. Keep the fulling grown size when planting.
