Beauty berry! Native in the US. I’m trying to find a suitable place to plant one- they’re so cool!

Beauty Berry, it can be used to make jams. But not very tasty on its own

Looks like *Callicarpa americana* (American beautyberry). Native to the central and southeastern parts of the US, as well as Cuba, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. It’s the only US-native species.

Beauty Berry, they’re growing wild on my property here in central Florida. Bets are the birds brought them in.

Side note: hiking in the Lake Greeson area looking for cinnabar specimens in mine tailings I had trouble distinguishing cinnabar from the multitude of other brown red minerals until I found out that cinnabar is the same color as French mulberry. I was hunting for the stuff in the fall and I could always find it near the mines.

Everyone is saying it’s Beautyberry but I say it’s obviously a Nerds cluster bush. /j
