Wondering what tomatoes that you plant without fail because they are perfect for you, but never seem to be grown by anyone else?
These are my two favorites. Opalkas are on the left. Probably the best paste tomato I’ve ever grown. Huge, meaty, and taste good raw and cooked. They can take a while, so they are the best planted early, but when they start coming in it’s explosive.
Jaune Flammes are on the right. This is hands down my favorite. They are golf ball size, sometimes a little bigger. The taste is fruity, sweet-tart, at times almost tropical. They are my go-to for bruschetta, sandwiches, and salsa. I also slow roast and freeze them to add to winter tomato dishes. Always one of my first to come in, and they are steadily productive. The only flaw is that they are a bit more prone to splitting after a heavy rainfall, and they are also the favorite of the resident chipmunks. 😡
So what are yours?

What are those pointy boys? How they taste?…. never mind, i just read your post. Buetiful!
I bought opalka seed from victory this spring to try but I didn’t get anything done in time, new garden site. Looking forward to trying them in 26. Threw in some nursery San marzanos at least and they’ve just been a red avalanche.
I always grow some Cherokee purples but honestly I can’t help trying new things.
I can’t get Opalkas or Sheboygans to grow, so I stick to my San Marzanos, Amish paste and Costoluto Genovese.
