Two questions below need your help. I feel this tree root is a risk for my house, but maybe it's not a concern?
1. What is this plant?
2. How to stop the root keep growing twords my house?
The plant, I don’t know, sorry!
For root cutting, I had to do it at home for different occasions.
– very large horizontal root of a large eucalyptus, 1.5 meters from the trunk, it prevented the foundations of my garden wall from being poured, it was 30 years ago, the tree is still there and in good health (a root 15 cm in diameter). The tree was there before we bought the land 30 years ago.
– large bougainvillea (age 22 years) which grows against a wall (the trunk touches it in places), and which is 6 meters high. Its roots lift the tiles of the terrace (laying the terrace on a concrete “hedgehog” + large stones on which the installation is done on a classic lean concrete for tiling). I peeled off the affected tiles, cut the visible roots and relaid the tiles with the usual classic adhesive cement. It’s been 2 years and the tree still looks healthy.
– umbrella pine (age 25 years), it covers a circle of 12 meters in diameter. Some of its roots appear at ground level and some form growths which stop or prevent my lawn mower from rolling. I cut as low as possible with an axe, not very practical when the cut is horizontal at ground level, or with a chainsaw, or with a wood chisel and a hammer. I covered it with tree resin and so far I haven’t seen anything harmful.
EDIT:
– I have a crawl space in which the roots form a carpet. I cut everything I can without knowing what they belong to.
