Haworthia owner since 3wks. I repotted and now getting a new leave. One of the leaves is shiny/glossy/glassy (bottom) and one is wrinkly (top). Both feel firm to touch. Watering or not? I feel like I’m getting mixed messages here. lol

  1. One of the things I’ve learned from a few folks recently is that haworthia will absorb older, outside leaves when rooting and pushing out new leaves. From live plants I’ve been shown to demonstrate this, yours looks like it’s doing just that, so if the leaves are still firm, you should be good to hold off watering for a bit. I am no expert though, so if someone says otherwise I’m open to learning too 🙂

  2. Not summer grower’s but they like some late summer moisture, they kinda have two watering seasons
And only need bright ish sunlight unless you like red/brown specimen’s, which IMHE some can look good and some look crap lol
    So I adjust accordingly

Mine are really weird and wonderful. They seem to thrive on neglect. The more I fuss about them, the more fickle they are. I love them to pieces, but sometimes I wonder.
Recently I had one of my prides of joy eaten by snails and slugs. I literally cried when I seen that. 😭
