Canolfan Llwynihirion Brynberian was awarded the internationally recognised honour for its dedication to sustainability and environmental excellence on Sunday, September 7.

The award recognises spaces that put nature, the environment and the community at the heart of what they do.

Janet Phillips, chair of the Canolfan committee, said: “This Green Flag is your award, a recognition that your efforts have created something of true and lasting value.”

She also thanked the many volunteers, supporters and partners who have contributed to the garden’s success, including Keep Wales Tidy and the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

The Green Flag Award celebrates sustainable, peaceful and educational green spaces that benefit both people and wildlife.

The garden features wildflower meadows, raised beds, fruit trees, orchards and a Peace Garden.

Judges praised the site’s pollinator-friendly design, the annual Pollinator Party, regular volunteer workdays and its winter Garden Café.

The award places Brynberian in a growing network of green spaces across Wales that are leading the way in community-led environmental stewardship.

The garden is maintained without peat, pesticides or harmful chemicals, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable growing.
