Hi all, this flower has grown in my garden out of no where this summer, very pretty, but i dont no what flower it is and is it a one season type or will it regrow next season?
I don’t remember the name but I do believe the leaves are edible

The lovely nasturtium! Leaves and flowers are edible, as long as not treated. Due diligence etc. One of my absolute favorites, and it thrives on neglect š
Nasturtium! It will almost definitely regrow – each flower will drop a little seed pod, which will dry to look like a tiny walnut. They are happy to sprout literally on top of soil, they don’t even need to be buried.

The whole plant (no pesticides etc) is edible, leaves flowers for salads and the seeds to make pickles (capers) the leaves make a fantastic pesto if you donāt like basil

Beautiful nasturtium! Comes in beautiful colors, is edible (consider using the leaves in salads, cooked like spinach; pickling the flower buds to use like capers; using all parts to infuse vinegars; I’ve even seen recipes for nasturtium leaf pesto but never tried it). It had a peppery flavor. It is also good as a “trap plant” to attract aphids and such away from other parts of the garden. Of course that means it also becomes a sacrifice plant!
In zones 9 and up, it will spread. One of my BILs would cut them back from around the backyard redwood tree, for his mom. Most years it was over a hard to cut out. In those zones, those seeds all germinate and start up new plants. The spread can be controlled, it’s not that difficult, but you do need to watch for that.

Nasturtiums. The leaves are edible, very edible. Very peppery. The flowers can be added to salads or just eaten. The bees, pollinators, and caterpillars love them.
It’s one flower you’ll want to grow again and again.

Egg salad with nasturtium capers
Love these. Planted seed once or twice, they reseed and come back every year. Because of the “peppery” taste, my kids called them “Nasty Tershums”.
