I haven’t had these too long and admittedly during the hot weather I didn’t water them as I didn’t realise I need to. Is that why they’ve died?

Some haven’t though.

They are in topsoil with bark on top.

Excuse the weeds we have been on holiday for 2 weeks and they’ve appeared!

I’m really clueless when it comes to plants so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Look for caterpillars as they can strip them but yeah plants need water

Box blight or box caterpillar most likely

Could well be – raised planters require more watering than plants directly in the ground and it has been *very* hot and dry this summer. However, it’s odd that some plants are dead or almost dead, and others still look reasonably healthy.

Box is notoriously susceptible to disease and insect attack. I wonder if this is perhaps box blight?

  4. I think that they needed more water.
    The leaves are brown.
Not seen box blight that colour before.

    Just my personal opinion.

But don’t bother with box. It’s too much effort and these days it’s just a matter of time till it becomes infected.

    Some good alternatives –

    Japanese holly
    Yew
    Japonicus

Where the caterpillars hit bt to consider alternative plants like rosemary or the box leaf honeysuckle

Died of thirst – caterpillars would have stripped the leaves and blight would leave them more grey/black than this orange colour. That raised bed would drain very fast so would need a lot of water.

I’m also giving up on box – too much work to maintain with blight and caterpillars
