Leggy lady

Have had this tree for about three years. I got a little lazy about watering it and wondering what my best course of action is from here. I see people recommending cutting them in other posts but I wonder how much this involves- I.e. is it high risk that I’ll lose the whole thing if I’m not the greenest thumb?
If cutting is an easy sure thing- can anyone offer me advice on exactly where to cut and what to do? Explain it to me like I don’t know anything… bc I don’t!
