Hi folks!
My neon pothos has starting dropping a lot of its lower leaves. The leaves start to get very light in colour, and then slowly yellow out until they fall off. I’ve had this plant for almost 6 years now, and this is the first time she’s done it.
Some info:
Last repotted January 1st of this year. Went up in pot size. I don’t think being rootbound is an issue. The plant initially started losing leaves after the repot. I first thought it was shock, but it’s kept happening (at a slower rate though).
I water it once every 3.5-4 weeks, sometimes longer than 4 weeks, depending on what the plant is telling me. I use both a moisture meter as well as my good ol fashioned finger to check soil dampness, and water when the soil feels dry/when the moisture meter is at 1.
I fertilize… sometimes. I’ve been using the Miracle Grow tropical fertilizer (in the pump bottle). It’s been like this the whole time I’ve had it.
She’s been growing well! The new leaves are huge and healthy. She’s in a spot with great light and I use a sheer curtain to filter the light so she doesn’t burn.
What am I missing here? Open to all ideas!

Actually, the pot looks too big to me. They like snug roots.
You can chop and throw it back in the pot to get it bushier.
More light would probably help. Perhaps a supplemental grow light?
That looks like standard potting soil, which compacts and doesn’t allow air circulation at the roots, as well as retaining too much water. Next repot, try adding porous inorganics such as horticultural lava rock or pumice. I use inorganic bonsai soil and tropical soil 50-50 for my pothos.
The pot has drainage holes, right?
