Here are the top mobile game downloads from last month, according to Appmagic data.
Appmagic’s estimates do not include numbers from China’s fractured Android market. There’s also commentary on June’s most notable trends from the top 20 and beyond below.
In between these monthly updates, you can also keep tabs on Appmagic’s top grossing and top downloads charts here.
August was another record-breaker for Roblox, which has been further boosted by the wild success of Steal A Brainrot (which followed the hyper-viral Grow A Garden). It’s up about 1.5m installs on July’s total, and its monthly download rate is up about a third, generally speaking, since Grow A Garden really took off.
Block Blast is going the other way, though – after hitting 42m installs in April, this is the fourth month running that Hungry Studio’s puzzler has seen a decline in downloads. And yet it’s still ~4.6m installs ahead of stalwart Subway Surfers, which is steady as ever on just over 17m.
Pizza Ready has also been remarkably consistent, sitting in fourth on nearly 15m installs for August. It’s the same story for Ludo King, which had a blip at the end of 2024 and in early 2025, but is now back to regularly generating 14-15m installs per month.
In sixth spot, Outfit7’s My Talking Tom Friends 2 was also in the 13-14m bracket for August in its second month on the market.
Free Fire’s collab with Naruto has boosted the battle royale game’s earnings, but the download peak came last month, meaning August’s installs are down a little month-on-month.
August also saw Dream Games’ Royal Kingdom break 12m installs for the first time, not long after that high profile celebrity ad campaign.
Like its sister title, Garena’s Free Fire Max saw a slight decline in monthly downloads month-on-month because of a big Naruto collab in July, though it’s still up one place on the previous month.
Hole.io rose four spots in August as its comeback continues – it’s now posting about 12m installs per month after noticeably scaling up midway through 2024.
August’s top downloads: 11-20
11. Vita Mahjong (Vita Studio): 10.9m
12. Tile Explorer – Triple Match (Learnings): 10.6m
13. Candy Crush Saga (King): 9.8m
14. FPS Strike Ops: Modern Arena (FPS Shooter & Action Game): 9.7m
15. PUBG Mobile (Tencent): 9.5m
16. Royal Match (Dream Games): 9.4m
17. My Talking Tom 2 (Outfit7): 9m
18. 8 Ball Pool (Miniclip): 8.9m
19. Extreme Car Driving Simulator (AxesInMotion Racing): 8.6m
20. Tile Club – Match Puzzle Game (GamoVation): 8.6m
Outside the top ten, Vita Mahjong shed a couple of million installs month-on-month after breaking into the top ten in July. Vita Studio’s tile puzzler is only slightly ahead of competitor Tile Explorer in 12th, while FPS Strike Ops is a notable riser, up 23 places month-on-month with 9.7m downloads in August.
8 Ball Pool, Extreme Driving Car Simulator and Cookingdom all saw decent month-on-month growth too. Outside the top 20, Supercell’s Clash Royale saw perhaps the biggest downloads surge in August – it’s up 47 places in the chart, having racked up about 8.5m installs in August (up from ~6m installs in July).
A little behind Supercell’s action-strategy game in 25th is fellow fast chart riser Spider Fighter 3, from UAE-based Starplay. It was up by about 1.5m downloads month-on-month to hit 7.8m installs, and rose up the rankings by 28 places.
