The first bloom since my orchid journey started a few months ago. (Not counting plants that came bloomed). It's not all my doing though. It came healthy from a local grower, that had spikes emerging.

But now, if I want to really test my skills, I think the last picture should be it. From dead to bloom….. I hope this happens, as I go away on vacation for 1 week and all that hard work might just go to waste.

What hybrid is this? It’s beautiful.

Also, I’m still kinda figuring out brassavolas (though I’ve now got a handful of them and they seem to be doing well?), but I think they generally want to be watered more often than once a week. I’d be surprised if leaving for a week does any real harm to the plant, but it might stress it enough to impact the flower. If you have someone who can come water it for you once, that might be a good idea.

  2. Congratulations! The bloom is absolutely gorgeous! Just don’t be like me and accidentally break the spike! 🤦‍♀️😭

I love this hybrid. It has such intense color compared to most other Brassavola hybrids.
