Is there a best cactus for accepting scions? I think yes, but there's many cactuses I haven't grafted to. I've had my best success with PC, Pachanoi, TPM, and a different species, Stenocereus. I'm curious to know which cactus, be it Trichocereus or not, has given you the best success in getting massive Scions.

Cacs for Tax: Bridgesii and Peruvianus grafted on to pachanoi, which itself is grafted onto PC

Peru Althea x Peru Mystic on Pachanoid pup, Bridgesoid on Pachanoid, you get the rest. Cool to see how the bridge spines have grown to avoid puncturing its host's pup. Anyways, look forward to hearing what y'all think.

ive used pc, pachanoi, spach, cuzco, and pere. only time I’ve ever have a graft fail to take was when either the rootstock or the scion was too woody, and also doing impale grafts with pere, which for some reason I can only get to work 50% of the time. i always water the rootstock thoroughly the day before grafting and use elastic bandage wrap and rubber bands too add lots of pressure. i usually wait around 5 days before removing everything and watering.
im interested to hear from people who have used unusual rootstock, opuntia, dragon fruit, tbm, etc

Lately I’ve started using the really big Cereus Peru I planted the ground like 6 or 7 years ago. Can be a little bit tricky trying to get it started but the speed of the growth is incredible. It also seems to cause the spines on anything that I graft onto it to become loooong as hell. Even if it’s a cut that normally has short spines.

For instance I grafted one of these pictured columns of Yowie X Wowie onto it last summer…:
