hi! recently adopted a beautiful bonsai tree and it seems like it needs a little bit of TLC to get it in good shape. haven’t done anything for watering, and we have very little natural light (but do have a plant light). my bf is on the game for learning upkeep afterwards (i am a plant killer), but wondering if anyone has any suggestions 🙂 she’s a beaut!

It’s going to need a lot of light. A plant light isn’t going to be enough. It looks like it’s losing foliage. Do you know how it was cared for before?

Junipers are an outdoor plant… they also need a period of winter dormancy to stay healthy..

It wont last very long indoors..

Usually once the leaves start browning from the bottom up, it’s a sign it’s actively dying.

This reminds me of the most hated tree of my childhood. Some fool planted one with this type of foliage right near our front porch steps. It would drop those spikey bits all over and turn the area into a minefield for bare feet.

Yeah that Juniper has dried out. It’s going to drop all of those needles. Hate to say it but looks dead, like crispy dead.

Outside!! Now! Junipers cannot live indoors, ever! It has a chance to survive if you put it out right now, but it will continue to decline inside. They need the wind, the rain, the cold, people have tried every possible method to grow them inside but nobody has ever gotten it to work- ever. Put that thing out and water it regularly (every day pretty much with bonsai soil) and you have a chance to save it. Best of luck!
