Dasara flower show to showcase floral replica of Sabarmati Ashram Mysuru: This year’s Dasara flower show at Kuppanna Park promises to be a unique blend of art, culture, and history, as the event will showcase a floral replica of the iconic Sabarmati Ashram. The decision to highlight this theme comes in view of the show’s concluding day coinciding with Oct 2—Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. In a fitting tribute, state govt has chosen to dedicate the event to the ideals and values espoused by the Father of the Nation, making the flower show not just a visual spectacle but also an inspiring reminder of Gandhi’s philosophy.The flower show, which will run from Sept 22 to Oct 2, is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Mysuru Dasara celebrations. Preparations are already in full swing, with organisers working meticulously to design floral installations that narrate different aspects of Gandhi’s life and principles.The central highlight — the Sabarmati Ashram replica — will stand as a symbol of simplicity, truth, and non-violence, principles that defined Gandhi’s vision for society.More than one lakh flowers will be used to create decorative pieces and thematic displays. To achieve a vibrant and striking effect, flowers in over 10 to 15 colours will be sourced from across the country, including horticultural centres such as Ooty and Pune. The exhibits will feature over 20 varieties of flowering plants, including Marigold, Gailardia, Gazania, Spider Flower, and Jasmine.The Dasara flower show has always been a crowd-puller, attracting thousands of visitors from across the state and beyond. This year’s edition aims to go beyond visual delight, offering an immersive experience that combines tradition, creativity, and social message. According to Manjunath Angadi, deputy director of the department of horticulture, the preparations are progressing smoothly. “The work is going on well for the annual Dasara flower show which will begin from Sept 22. Since the last day coincides with Gandhi Jayanthi, we have adopted Gandhi’s principles as this year’s theme. Apart from this, there will also be floral replicas that depict the state govt’s five guarantee schemes. Visitors will see an array of colourful installations designed to educate, entertain, and inspire,” he said.
