We came home from our camp today and immediately checked the 9 chrysalis we actually found in the last 2 weeks. 3 monarchs had eclosed! 1 of the remaining 6 was clear and eventually eclosed while we were unloading. 1 of the last 5 has gotten dark (its hard to see so it could be clear) and I'm guessing will eclose in the next day or so. We found all 4 new monarchs.
A painted lady also made an appearance on our blue mistflower.
After finding the butterflies we started looking for caterpillars. In all, we found 36 monarch and 2 black swallowtail caterpillars.
What a morning!!
