Hi
Iv had this Thai constellation for afew weeks now . When i first got it , it did have browning on the variegation but i thought that as long as it gets good lighting it wouldnt spread. Its been afew weeks now and it sits under a good grow light but the browning is still happening . Iv made sure not to over water it and theres no yellowing on the leaves . What can I do ?

I heard silica works but I haven’t personally tried it! My thai cons are also browning like yours 😅

too intense light can burn the variegation

It just needs even more light. You probably already know this, but variegated plants have increased light requirements due to having less chlorophyll. If these needs are not met, the plant will transport the resources in the variegated tissue to new growth and the root system. Increasing light exposure enough will halt this process. Do you have a sunny window?

edit: Whomever downvoted me should speak up because I am happy to teach you about leaf senescence. 💚

Mine is the exact same. Had two beautiful half moons and now it’s browned to shite lol

Same as another commenter, I heard silica works, haven’t tried it. My Thai gets alotttt of light, still browning to heck 🙁

I add silica to water and I think that has massively helped mine is also in a really sunny spot I think I saw in the comments that you’re in a place without a lot of sun I would maybe look into grow lights if that’s the case! Good luck! I’m sure you’ll get it dialed in.

I keep mine outside in the summer. Bright indirect light most of the day and then about 2hrs of direct light in the evening. Seems to be doing well. No burning and it’s growing big leaves fairly regularly.

Silica supplements and dedicated grow lights when indoors. This time of year, it’s outdoors until late October in my area.

Is for sure a light issue and not root rot?

I am asking because I have a Thai Conn that looks similar, and I was under the impression that root rot is the problem. I bought all the stuff I need to repot but have not started yet.

I would love to not have to do it, lol.

Is it possible you don’t water enough? I had one leave on mine turn brown where variegated, I just had root rot on my other monstera so I think I overcompensated and didn’t water enough. She was also getting a little root bound so I repotted her and she seems to be doing better.
