Can someone help me identify what is at the base of my spider plant? I'm having some issues with fungus gnats on other plants, perhaps related?

Looks like a little slime mold fungus. Is your soil very wet? Did you recently add new potting mix?

An anthill! Aka free treatment for spider mites lol, they’ll probably be eating the pests and likely won’t cause any damage to your plant. If you want to keep them, try bottom watering from now on

The humidity is sooo bad in Houston I can’t tell you how many different kinds of mushrooms and fungues I have all over the yard…but supposedly that means you have good soil…
