All I have done so far is I stopped mowing a random blob of my back yard and I sprinkled in a native plants seed mix. I don't love the shape but this is just an experiment to see what happens over a year or 2 or 3. I'll add more native plant mixes seasonally, although I expect most of them won't take. But I prefer the wild approach anyway.
