I have this barbed adapter with a threaded end (for drip irrigation). How do I properly install it into a PVC pipe without leaks? Do I just drill a hole and screw it in, or is there a better method? I couldn't find a YouTube video about this.

Might be able to tap the PVC with an NPT thread, but I’ve never attempted this. Seems like it should work if you’re careful.

If it’s low pressure like most drip irrigation you can just drill a snugly fitting hole in the pvc then screw the fitting in after a good wrap of teflon tape round the thread. Alternatively smear silicone sealant on the thread before screwing it in.

I made a mister for my kid when they were younger using Mr. Misters. I drilled a hole in the PVC, wrapped the threads with teflon tape(plumber’s tape), and then screwed the Mr. Misters in. it held well without leaks. There were some horizontal and some vertical facing down. I had no issues.

If an interference tap or roll tap is available that would be first choice. I did aeroponic sprayers into 1/2″ CPVC by just drilling and screwing in by hand. A small leak wasn’t a problem as it was contained in a tunnel. I did ruin a few fittings.
