Hello all! Gardening noobie here. I've been trying to build up a heap of compost for the first time, it's TEEMING with these little pale critters and some cockroaches and other earthworms etc. Does anyone know if they are beneficial or are they a sign I'm doing something wrong? Btw sorry for the terrible photo, I kind of freaked out when I saw the cockroach and just wanted to run away.

Those are Isopods, wee little crustaceans that munch on organic and decaying matter and help make proper soil.
