We just bought a house back at the beginning of the year in TN and the older couple who lived here planted sooo many beautiful things. Among those were some blueberry bushes, a muscadine vine, and a pear tree. At least we were told it was a pear tree. I just wanna make sure that I’m not going to accidentally poison my family if I make some treats with these pears. So, just to confirm, this is an Asian pear?

Looks like a pear. I have 2 varieties that shade, bosc and Asian.

My Asian get more round and are smaller than those, and my bosc get the more typical pear shape… I’d still lean toward bosc.

That’s an Asian pear. Safe to eat, and they taste lovely.

You have amazing luck to have all that in your yard!

Time to play Pear or Potato! That wacky game show where you sometimes eat a delicious pear, and sometimes it’s a raw potato!

Loks a lot like a Swiss pear variety called Chugelibire
