I've recently bought this orchid from a gardening center and am wondering why I suddenly have a huge bulb with a flower in a different colour? First time I've bought an orchid like this.
This orchid’s flower has been pollinated!!🤩
Whether naturally occurring via insect, purposeful with toothpicks, q-tips and knowledge, or freak chance of luck through wind and ‘mystery’….
This beautiful girl is reproducing! Super awesome! Congratulations!!
*(If you care: some people <not me> know how to take these seed pods and propegate them, vials, lab conditions, etc. I have several outside orchids that are regularly pollinated by insects. I personally wait until the seed pod has dried enough to crack open, then I cut the seed off and shake the pollen-dust/seeds (concentrated/tight area) wherever I want that orchid to grow. 60% of the time it works 100%!👍🏼)
Thanks for sharing and good luck!

It’s been pollinated. There might have been an insect, which is unlikely considering that this specific insect doesn’t live where you’ve bought this orchid. Maybe somebody in the store who did it got fun in the garden centre. I’ve done that as well

I have similar epidendrums in my yard, they get polinated/self easily and this is a seed capsule.
