do not remove any dry grass or dry Leaf these are organic matter once it start breaking down they’re going to help our soil and once our soil is Rich our plant’s going to be healthy so what you’re going to do is mix everything up with your old soil dig down about 6 to 8 in below remove any weeds or any rocks you want to add home compost if you have home compost if you don’t have compost add organic fertilizer add a layer of fertilizer do not be cheap with it add a good amount of fertilizer then you’re going to add three to 4 in of fresh soil pot mix soil organic soil then you’re going to water well and once you water well you’re ready to transplant and grow

  1. Thanks. Never thought to water the bed before planting. Don't know how I missed that point. I mean, I always pre-wet the containers. No wonder the soil is so dry and the roots don't do well!

  2. You really should not put those leaves under your soil like that. When they break down they will be using a massive amount of nitrogen that your plants need to grow. Having them on top as a mulch is great and is very beneficial but you should never incorporate them into your soil where you are planting as it is extremely detrimental to plant development.
