So I've had these babies for a few years now, but this is the first time they have done this. I feel like they aren't babies anymore…

Are these seed pods? And if so how do I collect/harvest the seeds?
Also would it be best to put them fully undercover? At the moment they are partially undercover but get the tiniest bit of rain. I live in Australia for context and they've been fine in their current position for as long as I've had them.

Ignore the weeds, they're kept outside.

They were flowering a while ago and I just noticed these, so I'm assuming some sort of lithop orgy went on when I wasn't looking. Not sure as to the species of any, if anyone has any ideas I am all ears.

  1. Yes they are seedpods! They will be ready to harvest in about a year. They will be very dry then. Cut them off then, and place a drop of water on them. Within minutes the pod will open, starshape-like. Scrape out the very very small seeds with a needle. Seedpods or dried seeds will keep for 10 years or more. As for species, I’m no expert but here is my guess (and I may be very wrong): green ones : Lithops olivacae or Lithops salicola malachite. Brownish ones just above and below green ones: Lithops fulviceps. Cluster on the left: Lithops lesliei. 6 heads along the top edge: Lithops aucampiae.
