Peat moss is mined from bogs, permanently destroying the world most important carbon sink. Almost all Sphagnum moss (LFSM) is wild harvested, knowing how fragile these habitats are, i doubt the sustainability of that practice… Go peat free!

Let’s go all experiment coco coir because it work 100% for me on neps, sundew, cephalotus, sarracenia seedlings. All other are still on experiment.
Mixed with perlite exactly like peat, this media, i think, can be miraculous. Maybe mixed with finely chopped pine bark from wood industry wastes…
I grow my own spaghnum because of this. Its actually very easy to grow. Pour some perlite on a tray, put moss clippings over it, add water, cover with a transparent lid and put it somewhere bright and you’ll soon have a nice carpet of spaghnum.
Although it’s slow, so for now I just use well-washed coco fiber. You can buy bricks of the washed stuff intended for use in reptile terrariums for fairly cheap.
well peat is already banned for private use in the EU

This is in pure coconut chunks and the pings are in kitty litter.
Coco is good for holding salt fertilizers, does that matter here?
I’m fairly certain Besgrow, a huge source of LFSM, farms theirs sustainably. Do you have a source for almost all of it being wild harvested?
And you do know that coconut is destroying habitats around the world as well? [It’s not a good replacement.](https://www.nature.org/en-us/newsroom/pacific-coconut-study/)
